Background
- The Club Swan 42 was designed as a competitive racer cruiser.
- Its design originated with Frers Design team, and was developed in partnership with the NYYC.
- A key challenge was building a one-design yacht capable of winning races within open divisions, even under the IRC handicap rule. The 42 has met this challenge.

Construction
- The Club Swan 42 features clean, modern lines.
- The hull and deck are a sandwich construction of infusion molded E-Glass/vinylester laminate featuring carbon fiber reinforcements.
- The material lay up provides high fore and aft stiffness for better performance, rig control and durability.
- The keel is T-shaped composite construction with a fin of high-tensile steel and a 3.2 ton lead bulb at 2.7m below the water line.
- Both the keel and the rudder blade have been designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis to guarantee optimal foil shapes.
