General Arrangement

AccomModations

Sleeps six in three separate sleeping cabins. Sleeps one more in the main saloon for a total of seven. Two heads. Varnished teak interior with teak and holly cabin sole. The overhead is vinyl paneling.

Forepeak cabin

Located in the bow. 1 x fold up/down pipe bunk. Ladder to foredeck. This cabin should be considered as a storage area.

forward guest cabin

Located immediately aft of the forepeak cabin. Mirror imaged. Two single bunks in each cabin, one above the other. Hanging locker and drawers forward. Lockers under the lower bunk. Curved seat forward in the port cabin only. Air conditioning, fans and audio speakers in each cabin.

forward head

Located immediately aft of the port guest cabin and opposite the galley. This head is shared by both guest cabins. Stainless steel sink. Raritan manual head. Drawers and lockers under Formica counter-top. Lockers outboard. Mirror forward.

Galley

“U” shaped. Located immediately aft of the starboard guest cabin and opposite the day head. 2 x stainless steel sinks with stainless steel countertop forward. Outboard is a 3 burner Force 10 stove with oven and protective stainless steel bar. Either side of the stove is top loading dry storage. Rival microwave oven aft and outboard. Sea Frost Top loading fridge and freezer aft with lockers above. Floral, tiled backsplash. Fan. There is ample storage above, forward, aft, and outboard. Drawers forward. There are two steps aft, up to the main saloon.

Main Saloon

Located aft of the galley and day head and up two steps from them. “U” shaped dinette raised to starboard with table that has 2 leaves. Close to 360 degree outdoor visibility from the main saloon. Lockers outboard.

Navigation Station

Located opposite the dinette and forward facing. The navigation station seat rotates 90 degrees allowing it to face forward or the dinette. Lifting lid on the navigation desk to access folded chart storage. Drawers forward. Lockers outboard. Outboard and forward are navigation and communication instruments. Aft is more storage and drawers.

Master Cabin

Located aft of the navigation station and accessed via a corridor on the port side. In the same corridor is a wet locker and teak seat for changing in/out of foul weather gear. The electrical breaker panel is inboard of the corridor and engine access is underneath the electrical panel. In the master cabin are 2 single bunks, one to port and one to starboard. Midships and aft is a seat at an aft facing vanity with mirror, desk and drawers either side. Above the bunks outboard and aft are lockers and shelves. Forward each side are drawers and hanging lockers.

Master Cabin Head

Located on the starboard side immediately forward of the master cabin and accessed from the master cabin. Upon entering this area there is first a stainless steel sink outboard with drawers and locker under. Outboard and above are more lockers. Going through another doorway forward takes you into the head area with stall shower. Teak grating in the cabin soul. Here there is access to the generator space.

General Arrangement

AccomModations

Sleeps 8 in 3 separate sleeping cabins plus 1 more in the main saloon for a total of 9. Varnished, satin finish, mahogany veneers over marine ply. Teak and light wood cabin sole. Vinyl overhead panels with mahogany strips.

Forward Head

Raritan electric head port side. Locker is above and outboard. Mirrors on each locker door. Stainless-steel sink starboard side with hot and cold pressure water. Lockers above with mirrors on the doors. Stall shower forward. Teak grating on the floor in the head and the shower.

Master Cabin

Double pullman bunk to port with single bunk above. Single bunk to starboard with air-craft lockers above. Lockers under the starboard bunk. Single drawer and a locker under the port double bunk.

Main Saloon

Forward to starboard is a double seat with large locker and shelving outboard. Immediately aft of the double seat is the forward-facing chart table with a set of drawers forward. The chart table has a lifting lid with chart storage under. The breaker panel is outboard, and the navigation instruments are forward. Under the helm seat is the battery selector switches. Also under the helm seat is the 120 V breaker panel. On the port side is a U-shaped dinette with a shelf in the table pedestal base. There is also a director’s chair inboard. Outboard are shelves and lockers forward and aft.

Galley

Located on the starboard side immediately aft of the navigation station. There is a double stainless-steel sink inboard with hot and cold pressure water. There are foot pumps for sea water and freshwater. Outboard of the sinks is a top loading 24volt Isotherm fridge. Outboard of the fridge is an additional sideloading fridge. Aft of the fridges is the stove. Three burner SMEV propane stove with oven. Above the stove is a storage locker. Aft and outboard is a locker with an LG microwave. Under the countertop are drawers. The countertops are white Corian. There is a large locker under the sinks.

Guest head

Opposite the galley on the port side is the guest head. Separating the dinette from the guest head is a locker protruding into the walkway. The head has a Raritan electric toilet with a flip down lid made of Corian. Outboard are lockers with mirrors on each door. The countertops are Corian. There is a sink with hot and cold pressure water and telephone type shower. There is a mirror against the bulkhead forward.

Aft guest cabins

Aft of the guest head is the aft port cabin with two single bunks joined aft and open forward. There’s a single seat forward. There is a hang locker outboard to forward and aircraft lockers above the bunk. Inboard is access to the engine space. Opposite the port guest cabin is the starboard guest cabin which is a mirror image. Access to the engine may be gained on the starboard side. Main access to the engine is under the companionway steps.

AccomModations

Forward Cabin

Located in the bow with a “V” berth and removable filler. Overhead storage lockers port, starboard and forward. Aft to port and starboard are additional lockers. There is a single seat aft to starboard. Storage is under the bunks.

forward head

Located immediately after of the forward cabin on the starboard side. Manual Groco head with holding tank and deck discharge. Fiberglass sink aft with hot and cold pressure water and telephone type shower. Two lockers outboard. One locker under the sink. Teak grate in the sole.

main Saloon

Immediately after of the head is the main saloon. On the port side is a straight settee with a pilot berth outboard of it. Each has fittings for a lee cloth. There is storage behind the settee backrests. Opposite, on the starboard side, is a “U” shaped settee with storage behind the backrest. There are shelves and lockers outboard. On the centerline is a teak table with folding leaves port and starboard. The water tanks are underneath the settees. Forward on the port side and opposite the head is additional storage.

galley

Located after of the main saloon on the starboard side. “U” shaped. There is storage outboard behind black plexiglass sliding doors. There are lockers above the double stainless steel sinks aft to store wet dishes in a rack that drains to the sinks below. Additional lockers are under the sink and forward and inboard. Inboard are 3 shelves. Outboard and forward is a top loading fridge. Outboard and aft is an additional insulated top loading ice box. There is a 3 burner propane stove with oven outboard with a crash bar and eyes to attach a belt for the chef while under way.

navigation station

Located immediately opposite the galley and on the port side. Forward facing. There are drawers forward and underneath the desk. There is a lid on the desk accessing chart storage underneath. Outboard is the electrical panel together with navigation and communication electronics.

aft cabin

Located in the aft end of the boat. Accessed on the port side. Single bunk to port and a single bunk to starboard. Against the forward bulkhead is a fiberglass sink with hot and cold pressure water. Over and under the sink two more lockers. Aft are two lockers underneath the cockpit sole. Another locker is outboard and over the starboard bunk.

Swan 45 SWAZIK

hull

Glass with vinylester resin laminate and carbon reinforcement in select areas. The laminate above the waterline is cored and below the waterline it is single skin fiberglass. The bulkheads are high grade marine ply with teak veneer over. The hull topsides are blue gelcoat and then painted over with Awlgrip flag blue in March 2013. The bottom has epoxy primer and painted with black Micron 66 in October of 2021.

In 2013, designed by the famed Nelson Marek, the hull was extended about 2 feet adding sailing performance (1st in class in the 2014 Pacific Cup) and deck space. This extension is designed to be removed should one wish to go back to the Swan 45 One Design Class rules.

keel

The keel is built from antimony lead with the upper flange recessed into the hull. The fin keel is bolted onto the boat with a high grade stainless steel bolts. The keel has 400 kilograms of removable lead ballast in the keel bulb. The keel and hull bottom has been faired to Swan 45 Class Specifications.

rudder and steering 

Nautor Built rudder with carbon fiber rudder post. The steering wheel is 6 feet in diameter and recessed into the cockpit floor. There are self aligning JP3 rudder bearings that were replaced in 2013. There is a lightweight emergency tiller. The wheel has a leather cover.

main saloon

Straight settees to port and starboard. The backrest for both settees lifts up to make sea bunk. There is storage behind each settee back rest. Each bunk has a lee cloth. On the center line is a teak table with leaves that fold to port and starboard. The batteries are stored in the center of the table and the battery box is vented up the mast. Under each bunk is a water tank. Above each settee are shelves and lockers with louvered doors.

galley

Located aft of the saloon and on the port side. “L” shaped. Corian countertops. Double stainless steel sinks close to the center line for ease of draining. Pressure hot and cold fresh water with a separate foot pump for seawater. Outboard is a Force 10, 3 burner stove with oven. The refrigerator is outboard and aft, side loading. The freezer is forward and outboard, top loading. There is a garbage bin underneath the sinks. The sinks have Corian tops to increase the work surface. Microwave oven. 

Navigation Station

Located on the starboard side immediately aft of the main saloon. Forward facing. Large chart table allows easy viewing of paper charts. The electrical panel, navigation and communication instruments are outboard of the chart table. There is storage underneath the chart table top and there are drawers immediately forward of the chart table. Immediately behind the chart table is a wet hanging locker.

Aft Guest Cabins

There are mirror image guest cabins aft. One to port and one to starboard. There are double “U” shaped bunks in each cabin. There is a hanging locker forward and outboard in each cabin. Under the bunks is storage.

The engine space is located under the companionway ladder that hinges up. There is additional engine access from each of the aft cabins.

forward cabin

Located in the bow with 2 adjustable single pipe bunks. Storage under both bunks. A stall shower has been plumbed into the area between the pipe bunks.

Located immediately aft of the forward cabin. Full width. Gel coated fiberglass unit to half height. Sink with hot and cold pressure water and shower wand to starboard. Head to port. Teak grating in the floor.  

forward port cabin

Located immediately aft of the forward head. Door to the head forward. Door to the main saloon aft. 2 single bunk beds. 

starboard forward cabin

Located immediately aft of the forward head. Door to the head forward. Door to the main saloon aft. 2 single bunk beds. 

main saloon

Located aft of the forward cabins. “L” shaped settee to port with lockers outboard. 2 single directors chairs in the middle. The settee and chairs surround a large dining table. On the starboard side are lockers and a countertop. Here there is an AV system and a 32” TV on a hinge with storage for the boat’s manuals behind. Tool storage under the counter top along with an ice maker. On the forward bulkhead to port is a custom glass locker. 

navigation station

Located aft of the saloon and on the starboard side. Facing forward. Surrounded with navigation and communication electronics as well as the AC and DC electrical panel. Drawers forward with locker outboard. 

galley

Located opposite the navigation station and aft of the saloon. Corian countertop with 2 sinks on the inboard side. Hot and cold pressure water. Sea water foot pump. Soap dispenser. Dish draining racks over the sinks. Spice locker aft. Trash locker. On the outboard side of the galley is a 3 x burner Force 10 stove (new 2017) with oven. Front loading fridge and top loading freezer. Microwave oven. Ample lockers outboard and drawers under counter.

master stateroom

Located via the galley or behind the navigation station through the aft head. Large centerline double bed with curved seats either side. Ample lockers throughout aft cabin. Hanging locker to port and forward. 2 x lockers forward to starboard with shelves. Small vanity on the centerline and against the forward bulkhead.

Aft head

Located between the master cabin and the navigation station. Access via a door to the navigation station forward and to the master cabin aft. Gel coated fiberglass unit to half height. Sink with hot and cold pressure water. Shower wand. Electric fresh water flush head. Exhaust fan .
