HULL

Single skin construction using fiberglass reinforced isopolyester laminate with vinylester skincoat.

Swan 82S - WHITE RHINO

HULL

The hull is a single skin construtction using a glass and aramid hybrid fiber reinforced vinylester laminate wiht local carbo fiber reinforcements.

A high portion of the fibers are unidirectional, giving a stiff laminate with excellent strength and fatigue properties. 

Structural bulkheads are of Nomex honeycomb cored carbon fiber epoxy pre-preg construction and laminated to the hull and deck.     

Stiffener flanges are unidirectional carbon lay-ups over foam cores.

Main Saloon

Located aft of the galley and up 3 steps from the galley. Forward to port is an outboard facing desk with fold down lid and a stool. Aft to port is an “L” shaped settee surrounding a dining table large enough to seat 6. Light tan Ultrasuede upholstery. To starboard are numerous lockers, some with stained glass, and a stand-alone armchair. Forward to starboard is a large countertop with a folding leaf to allow for full sized charts to be opened. Aft, and close to midships, is the companionway to the cockpit and steering position. Aft and to starboard of the saloon are steps down to the passageway to the aft cabin and access to the engine room. The Splendide combomatic washer/dryer is located in the passageway forward and a wet locker aft.

Master Cabin

Located aft of the saloon with access along the starboard side. Single bunks, 1 to port and 1 to starboard that converts to a double. A second companionway is aft accessing the aft deck. Drawers and lockers forward, aft, outboard and under the bunks.

Master Cabin Head

Located on the port side and forward of the master cabin. Separate stall shower. Sink. Raritan vacuum electric head (2015) with freshwater flush.

Located opposite the forward guest cabin and on the starboard side. Jabsco manual head.

Saloon

Located aft of the forward cabins and up a step. “L” shaped settee to port surrounding a table with foldout leaf. There is bottle storage in the table base. To starboard is a straight settee that converts to a sea berth. Tanks and batteries are located under the cabin sole. There is ample storage under each settee and throughout the saloon area.   

Navigation Station

Located off of the saloon and on the starboard side. Forward facing navigation table storage under the table lid for half folded Admiralty charts.

Utility Room

Located aft of the navigation station and on the starboard side. Space for a workstation as well as more storage. Access from the saloon and from the cockpit. Here there is engine access. The washing machine is located in this area. This room may be used as a wet locker.

Galley

Located aft of the saloon on the port side. It is a walkthrough galley to the master stateroom aft. Double stainless steel sinks inboard and near the center line. Pressure hot and cold water. Hans Grohe faucet with pull out spout. Gimbaled force 10 four burner propane stove with grill and oven. Frigomatic 12 Volt, 6.5cu ft refrigerator with front opening stainless steel door. Fridge is keel cooled. Microwave (2019).

Master Cabin

Located in the stern with access via the galley on the port side. Queen sized bunk with custom Tempurpedic mattress slightly offset to starboard. There are ample drawers and lockers. Hanging locker. Full length mirror.

Swan 54 - GLORY

Hull

The hull topsides are sandwich construction using 25mm closed cell foam core and fiberglass reinforced vinylester laminate. The hull bottom is a single skin construction using fiberglass reinforced vinylester laminate.

The bottom is treated with 4 coats of epoxy primer.

All stiffeners, stringers and web frames are fiberglass with local unidirectional fiber reinforcements. The engine bed is reinforced with steel inserts.

The forepeak and lazarette structural bulkheads are watertight and built using sandwich construction of 30mm foam core and fiberglass reinforced vinylester laminate.

The main bulkhead forward of the saloon is sandwich construction using 20mm foam core and fiberglass reinforced vinylester laminate. The remaining structural bulkheads are marine ply. All bulkheads are laminated to the hull and deck.

The stainless steel headstay, main chainplates and backstay chainplates are bolted to the hull laminate.

White gelcoat hull with dark blue waterline and sheer stripes.

2 x pair of fixed ports in the hull at the main saloon.

Side Power 24volt bow thruster.

Lead casting with antimony keel with fiberglass daggerboard providing 4’6” draft with the board in the up position.

The twin rudders are PVC foam cored fiberglass polyester laminate with a tapered high tensile stainless steel stock. The rudder is supported by two self-aligning bearings. There is a weed deflector in front of the rudder.

The mast is stepped through the deck onto a composite mast step.

All seacocks below the water line are bronze and mounted flush with the outside of the hull.

The transom folds down to form a full-sized swim platform with an integrated swim ladder. The helmsman’s seat is integrated into the top of the transom when in the closed position. The transom is operated by hydraulic cylinders.

Deck

Sandwich construction using multiaxial fiberglass reinforced vinylester laminate with closed cell foam core. Deck is bonded to hull. High density closed cell foam or solid fiberglass is under deck fittings.

White gelcoat in places where there is no teak decking. Dark blue coachroof coaming stripe.

9mm teak decking on the side decks, cockpit floor, cockpit seats and swim platform. Teak is vacuum bagged and bonded to the fiberglass deck with epoxy adhesive and some screws in the perimeter planks. Teak toe rails. Teak footrests in the cockpit for the helmsman.

Lewmar V4, 24volt windlass with chain gypsy for 10mm chain. Remote control in the anchor locker.

Stainless steel stem head fitting with Delrin anchor rollers.

Master head and Stall shower

Located immediately aft of the master cabin and on the starboard side. Head unit forward and stall shower aft of the head unit. White gel coated fiberglass unit to half height in the head and full height in the stall shower. Corian Countertop in the head. Mirror in head.

Forward Guest Cabin

Located immediately aft of the master cabin and opposite the master head. Double pullman type berth outboard. Hanging locker forward and inboard. Outboard and above the bunk are aircraft lockers.

Main Saloon

“U” shaped dinette to port with 2, director style, single seats inboard of the table. Lockers outboard and either side of the hull windows.

Navigation Station

Located opposite the dinette and on the starboard side.

Galley

“L” shaped. Located aft of the navigation station and on the starboard side. Countertops are Corian. Stainless steel sink. Lockers outboard as well as over the sink. Force 10 gimballed 3 burner propane stove with oven outboard. Front loading fridge and top loading freezer run off the 24volt house batteries. Waste bin under the sink.

Aft Head

Located immediately after of the dinette and on the port side. Gel coated white fiberglass unit to half height. Stainless steel sink. Mirror. Lockers outboard. Telephone type shower.

Aft port guest cabin

Located immediately after of the aft head. Double berth. Hanging locker forward. Aircraft lockers above and outboard.

Aft starboard storage

Opposite the port guest cabin and aft of the galley is a large storage area accessed from the galley.

The hot water tank can be heated either by the engine cooling water or the AC electrical system.

Hot water capacity is 13.2 gallons.

There is a hot and cold water deck shower installed at the swim platform.

Grey water is pumped directly overboard.

Each head is connected to one black water tank. There is an option to pump into the tank or directly overboard. The black water tank has a capacity of 31.7 gallons.

There is also a deck suction line to empty the black water tanks.
