Hull

Dark navy blue gelcoat finish topsides

Double boot-tops and single cove stripe are white

Transom was refinished with dark navy blue Awlgrip (2006)

Ceramic hull finish/polish applied 2021 following proper wet sanding

Bottom paint is International Micron CSC, dark blue

The hull construction is solid fiberglass reinforced polyester laminate.

The structural bulkheads are high-quality marine grade plywood especially fabricated to Nautor specifications, laminated to both the hull and deck.

Hull stiffeners/stringers are unidirectional lay-ups over foam cores

Fin keel “L” shaped bulb, ballast is cast lead with antimony, cast-in bolts are of high tensile stainless-steel

The rudder is foam filled GRP with tubular stock of hi-tensile stainless-steel supported by 2 self-aligning roller bearings.

Cable steering system with chain drive

Sugar scoop transom recessed bathing platform in the stern with an integral stainless-steel ladder and steps.

V berth with insert piece to make a double. Lockers over and outboard port and starboard. Hanging locker aft to starboard with locker underneath. Cushions upholstered in a light blue green fabric. 

forward head

Located aft of the forward cabin on the port side. Finished with white gelcoat fiberglass unit to waist height. Tile flooring. PAR manual sea-water flush toilet and telephone-type hand-held shower. Sink with pressure hot and cold water.  Lockers outboard. Mirror forward. 

main saloon

Located aft of the forward cabin and head. “L” shaped settee to port with locker forward. Lockers, bookshelf and space for entertainment systems on the port side. Removable pipe berth port side. Storage behind the backrest in the port aft corner, equipped with hinges. Straight settee to starboard with locker forward and shelf outboard. Also outboard of the starboard settee is the pilot berth. Lee cloths for each bunk.

Dining table on the centerline with leaves to port and starboard. Settees are upholstered with an Ultra Leather-type light beige material (new spring 2016). Cushions are custom Tempur-Pedic foam filled. 

Fixed table on the centerline with folding leaves port and starboard. Batteries stored inside the table with battery box vented to the mast. 

navigation station

Located aft of the saloon on the starboard side, opposite the galley. Forward facing. Surrounded by communication and navigation equipment as well as the electrical panel. Chart storage under the top. Locker and 4 drawers under the table and forward. Hanging wet locker aft. Seat refinished with Ultra Suede fabric.

Opposite the chart table and aft of the saloon on the port side. “L” shaped. Cameo White Corian counter tops and covers for the stainless-steel sinks. Force 10, stainless-steel, gimballed stove with 3 burners and oven with extractor hood and integral lighting. Stainless-steel stove guard. Top and side loading Sea Frost refrigerator inboard. Additional top loading freezer outboard (new 2011).

2 stainless steel sinks near the centerline with garbage bin below. GE microwave outboard. Hot & cold pressure water system with single faucet mixer control. 2 lockers outboard and above the countertop. Additional locker under the stove and aft of the stove.

aft cabin

Aft of the galley on the port side. Double berth with filler piece and lee cloth. Shelf with lockers outboard, hanging locker and dresser forward. Cushions upholstered in light blue/green fabric. Large opening hatch over.

aft head

Aft of the chart table on the starboard side. Finished with white gel coat fiberglass unit to waist height, tile flooring, PAR manual sea-water flush toilet and telephone-type hand-held shower. Sink with hot and cold pressure water.

Located under the companionway stair. Additional access from the aft cabin.

Main saloon

"L" shaped settee to port and straight settee to starboard. Off white with brown piping upholstery. Fixed table with folding leaves on the centerline. Outboard of each settee is storage lockers and shelves. TV on port main bulkhead and full entertainment center stbd side. 2 Hella turbo fans. 2 reading lights.

navigation station

General arrangement

Accomodations

Sleeps 8. 2 in each of the 2 sleeping cabins. 4 in the main saloon. 2 heads.

Forward Cabin

Large "V" berth. Access to the rode locker forward. Hull sides lined with teak battens. Ample storage under each bunk. Ventilation fans forward. Step up to bunk. Steps up to overhead sliding hatch. Anchor chain and rode hause pipe forward. Aft of the forward cabin and on the starboard side are hanging lockers and additional storage space.

Forward Head

Located aft of the forward cabin and on the port side. Teak grate for the telephone type shower. Sink with hot and cold pressure water. Manual head (2014) with holding tank and "Y" valve.

Main Saloon

All new cushions (2014). Lockers forward on the port and starboard side. Straight settee with pilot berth outboard on the starboard side. Water tanks under the starboard settee. Storage under the starboard pilot berth. "L" settee to port with pilot berth outboard. Water tanks under the "L" settee and storage under the port pilot berth. Fixed table on the centerline with folding leaves. Stainless steel tube aft of table for centerboard pennant. Teak battens on the hull sides port and starboard.

Navigation Station

Located aft of the saloon on the starboard side. Forward facing. Access to all navigation instruments as well as both 12volt and 110volt electrical panels. See "Electronics and Navigation" for instrument details. Wet locker next to companionway. 

Galley

Located in the walkway to the aft cabin, aft of the main saloon and on the port side. Fridge aft and outboard with stove (new 2014) forward and outboard. Inboard is the double stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressure water. Dish draining rack to the sinks above. Large storage lockers outboard of fridge and stove.

Tayana 55 - SEAQUIL

Refit 2015 to 2018

SEAQUIL went through a major refit over a 4 year period from 2015 to 2018 at the White Knight Yachts facility in Anacortes, WA. This same facility helped build the Oracle trimaran that was successful in winning the 2010 Americas Cup.

The refit included the following:

All deck hardware was removed. The top layer of glass laminate, as well as the balsa coring, was removed. A closed cell foam core was added, covered with a carbon/e-glass laminate and epoxy resin. All of the above was then vacuum bagged. The deck was then painted with a two tone non-skid.

All wiring and plumbing was removed and replaced with new.

New Yanmar engine (2017).

Northern Lights generator rebuilt.

New watermaker, electronics and sails.

The cabin floors were refinished.

The galley was refurbished with new fridge, freezer, Corian counter tops and sink.

All lighting was replaced with LED.

New bow thruster.

New headliners.

New mattresses and cushions.

New Edson steering system.

New autopilot with oversized hydraulic ram.

Most of the through hull fittings were new.

New engine exhaust.

New rigging.

New electric Harken winches.

New paint on the hull, deck, mast and boom.

New hard carbon fiber dodger was fitted.

General Arrangement

Sleeps a total of 7 in 4 sleeping cabins. 3 sleeping cabins forward for 5 and 1 cabin aft for 2. 2 heads. Herreshoff type interior with lots of white paneling highlighted with varnished teak trim, doors and locker fronts. Teak and holly cabin sole. Vinyl overhead paneling. 

Forward Cabin

Located in the bow. "V" berth. Overhead lockers port and starboard. Lockers and drawers under the bunks. Stainless steel wash basin aft to starboard with hot and cold water.

Forward Starboard Cabin

Located in the walk way to the forward cabin from the saloon. Large lockers and drawers with single bunk over. 

Forward Port Cabin

Located opposite the starboard cabin. Offset double bed outboard over generous storage and drawers. Overhead lockers forward.

Forward Head

Ensuite head aft of port forward cabin with access from the port and starboard cabins. Tecma electric head. Stainless steel sink with hot and cold water.

Main Saloon

Located up one step and aft of the forward cabins. "L" settee to port surrounding a dining table. Straight settee to starboard with coffee table. Shelving and opening ports in the hull outboard each side. 

Navigation Station

Located aft of the saloon on the port side. Forward facing chart table. Surrounded with navigation and communication electronics as well as the electrical panels. Door aft to engine and generator space. An additional door from the engine space accesses the master cabin stall shower and head.

Galley

Located aft of the saloon on the starboard side. Walk through access to master cabin aft. Vitrifrigo side loading fridge and top loading freezer driven via AC and DC power. Force 10 stove with oven. GE microwave oven. Single sink with hot and cold water. Corian counter tops with marbling finish. Ample lockers and drawers. Exhaust fan.

Master Cabin

Located in the stern. Centerline queen bed. Ample storage all around.

Master Cabin Head

Located forward and to port of the master cabin with walk through access via the stall shower to the engine space. Sink with hot and cold water.

Full standing headroom with easy access to the main engine and generator.
