HISTORY

In 1972 this Swan 48 was delivered, new, to a New York owner and she was then named KATE.

During the 1970s and early 80s she was based in the British Virgin Islands.

In the 80s she was sold to her second owner and was then called ORACLE. ORACLE returned to New England and was kept at the New York Yacht Club.

In the late 1980s she was bought by her third owner, renaming her SPECTRA. This owner was also based in New York and was of Turkish origin. In 1995 SPECTRA was sailed to Turkey. She was kept there until 2003 when the previous owner purchased her, renaming her KARA MIA. During his ownership he used the boat for his summer holidays in Turkey and Greece. Here a significant refit took place in 2010 before sailing to the Caribbean.

In 2015 the present owner purchased her in Antigua and she was this time renamed HUSH OF LYMINGTON. HUSH OF LYMINGTON was then sailed to the Med where she underwent her most recent and extensive refit.

There are records of this Swan 48 competing in the New York to Bermuda race frequently throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
